Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualifications:

  • A Master’s Degree in the relevant subject with at least 50% marks (45% for SC/ST and differently-abled candidates).
  • A B.Ed. degree in the concerned subject from a recognized university.

Exceptions:

  • Candidates applying for Commerce, French, German, Geology, Home Science, Journalism, Latin, Music, Philosophy, Psychology, Russian,
  • Social Work, Sociology, Statistics, and Syriac do not require a B.Ed.
  • Candidates with DLEd/LTTC in Arabic, Urdu, and Hindi without a B.Ed. can apply for SET January 2026.
  • Candidates in the final year of their B.Ed. or Master’s program can also apply.

Age Limit:

  • No upper age limit for appearing in the Kerala SET exam.

Aspiring Higher Secondary School Teachers and VHSE Non-Vocational Teachers in Kerala must qualify for the Kerala SET.

The exam consists of two papers:

  • Paper I: General Knowledge & Teaching Aptitude (120 Marks)
  • Paper II: Subject-specific (120 Marks)
